Quite sn eventful day today which started at 4.30am!!! With our bags all packed (Maggie's was overweight which worried her all night) Stephen was taking us to the bus station to pick up the Intercape bus to Nelspruit near White River, which was leaving at 8.00am. We were there for 7.30 and eventually went through and they didn't bother to weigh the bags!! Then we waited and we waited and we waited, each bus that came up we thought was ours but it wasn't until eventually at 9.30 our bus arrived, one and a half hours late. No apology, no explanation. It seems that is just what happens here. At last we were on our way and apart from the fact that the airconditioning was hardly working, the journey itself was fine and the scenery gradually changed from flat to mountainous. We eventually arrived, now two and a half hours late!! We got off the bus only to find that Jerry, Maggie's friend's husband, who was supposed to be meeting us, was nowhere in sight. We tried to phone but to no avail, when a man from the bus company came over and suggested we waited in the company office as it was safer. Here a woman suddenly asked us if we were waiting for Jerry. It's a long story but he had gone off to repair someone's guitar while they were waiting for the bus but he got back too late so they missed the bus and he missed us!! We finally got to White River, exhausted and very hot - 34 degrees today. But all's well that ends well and we thank God for bringing us safely here and look forward to the next couple of weeks and the things we will do. Starting with Golfing tomorrow. Watch this space!
